Burrana® RISE platform finalist for APEX Award
11/25/21 | 3 MIN READ Irvine, California Burrana is delighted to announce our nomination as finalist for APEX Best Inflight Entertainment Innovation Award for our RISE Platform. Burrana’s RISE Platform is a modular, flexible, scalable, and configurable portfolio consisting of hardware, software, apps, and services. The shared common hardware, common power backbone and a common software architecture enables airlines to easily mix and match wireless, seatback, or overhead entertainment, as well as in-seat power – or any desired combination of these – on the same aircraft and across their fleet. Unique in its design, the platform is changing the experience for airlines by solving the most frustrating challenges burdening our industry: the slow adoption of consumer technologies, costly and delayed software updates, cost-prohibitive integration of 3rd party apps, inflexible content licensing business models, and the lack of high-speed PED charging are all examples of this. RISE gives airlines the power to manage GUI and software change processes themselves via our ground tools, removing ATPs and FSATs, allowing airlines to be much more agile and reactive to market pressures. We do this via our RISE Customer and Operations Portal, a “one stop shop” browser-based dashboard that centralizes access to all Burrana tools and services. For example, our GUI Configuration Tool allows quick and easy updates managed by airlines’ own IFEC ground teams. Our Apps Marketplace lets airlines easily add or remove apps from their aircraft without ever having to speak to a Burrana rep. RISE Power provides airlines with the fastest USB charging in the industry with 15W (3 Amp) charging via USB-A and USB-C ports. The lightweight seat components remove the need to perform new dynamic or static seat testing meaning no seat re-certification is required. And, as the seat boxes are as small as an iPhone, they offer no intrusion to passenger legroom. With a 48VDC architecture, RISE Power is more reliable and up to 30% lighter than traditional architectures. Intelligent power sharing distribution and load shed management ensures greater utilization and efficiency of available power in the cabin, with multiple levels of redundancy bringing passenger facing failures to almost zero. RISE Power also makes maintenance easy with feature-rich usage data reporting on passenger behavior and system performance. The ability to centrally control each port also unlocks revenue opportunities for airlines.
